The God and Family program provides and opportunity for young people and their families to explore their faith together. This program is officially recognized by the Boy Scouts of America, as the religious awards program for Cub Scouts affiliated with protestant churches. In addition to participating in the meetings and completing family projects, Scouts are required to share what they have learned with a pastor before they are eligible for the award.

The pinewood derby is a classic Cub Scout activity. Each boy will be given a pinewood derby car kit. Over the next month, the scouts and families will work at home on building their cars, subject to specific rules (weight limits, no
axle guides, etc.). Each Den will have its own pinewood derby race, with the winners receiving medals and the fastest cars advancing to the pack championship. Every scout races at least twice. There are trophies awarded for speed, design and “Cub’s Choice” . The top 5 speed finishers are eligible to race in the District Pinewood Derby on 4/12/2014. This is one of the highlights of the Cub Scouting year. The official rules and procedures are available on the website and will be emailed to you. Please familiarize yourself with the official rules and procedures before beginning work on the cars. A 101 session is being offered to allow you the opportunity to ask questions, receive tips from experienced leaders and gain a full understanding of what it takes to build a successful Pinewood Derby car.
